The Canucks play their second game in as many nights as they continue their road trip in Glendale on Wednesday against the Coyotes.
The Vancouver Canucks will look for their second win in as many nights as they head into the desert to do battle with the Coyotes who are competing with Vancouver for a playoff spot in the Pacific division. The Canucks sit tied with the Coyotes for fourth in the division and both trail the idle Anaheim Ducks and while Vancouver showed up last night against the Colorado Avalanche they were coming off a loss to the Calgary Flames in convincing fashion and haven’t been playing very well this season. The Canucks run the risk of missing the playoffs altogether this season which would be a step back after sliding in last year but to be honest this is a team in transition and perhaps a missed postseason is in the cards so they can address some holes on their roster. The Canucks are 12-10-7 on the road this season and will likely go with Jakob Markstrom in this one while the Coyotes are 13-10-4 at home and will likely send Louis Domingue to the crease.
The Coyotes have fallen by the way side a little bit over the last month or so but continue to stay in the race for a playoff spot just a season removed from another lottery pick. Arizona is exceeding expectations to this point and if they can slide into the postseason ahead of the Ducks or Sharks it would be considered a huge accomplishment but they have their work cut out for them as the Pacific powers are starting to turn things up. Arizona is in a nice position here though as the Canucks haven’t been a consistent group and are coming off a game last night which should have them ripe for the picking in this back to back.
