The Vancouver Canucks visit the Gila River Arena for an NHL hockey match up with Arizona Coyotes.
The San Jose Sharks have not been playing well for quite sometime even though a postseason berth has been locked up which meant the Vancouver Canucks might have had an opportunity to squeeze out a road win. It was not meant to be with the Sharks riding some early scoring and tight defense and goaltending to a 3-1 victory on Tuesday night. Christopher Tanev was the lone source of offense for the Canucks with Richard Bachman stopping 22 shots in a losing effort that saddled Vancouver with loss number five in a row. The Sharks jumped to a 2-0 with goals from Joel Ward and Kevin Labanc lighting the lamp just 30 seconds after the opening faceoff with Chris Tierney also scoring. Martin Jones recorded 33 saves to lift San Jose to their third win in eleven contests.
The Dallas Stars are out of the postseason picture so giving a few youngsters a look seems like the smart thing to do with nothing left to play for. The Arizona Coyotes are in the same boat and when the two met Tuesday night it was the Stars coming away with a 3-2, overtime victory. Rookie Julius Honka potted the game winner 3:45 in to the extra session with Jason Dickerson and Brett Ritchie providing the Dallas scoring in regulation. Anti Niemi stopped 24 shots for the Stars to give him 17 wins against the Coyotes. The Arizona offense saw goals from Christian Dvorak and Anthony Duclair with the latter forcing overtime with his goal with 4:27 left in the third period. Mike Smith took the loss despite 28 saves as the team saw their shot at a three game winning streak go by the wayside.
The under is 4-0-1 in Canucks last 5 overall and the under is 4-0-1 in Canucks last 5 vs. Western Conference while the under is 3-0-1 in Canucks last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. The under is 4-0 in Coyotes last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and the under is 8-1 in Coyotes last 9 games playing on 1 days rest while the under is 6-1 in Coyotes last 7 overall. The under is 10-1-1 in the last 12 meetings in Arizona and the Canucks are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings while the home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
The Canucks have enjoyed the most success when facing the Coyotes but the under has done even better which is my lean pending goalies…
