The Jets look to shake off a loss in their last outing as they head into the desert to take on the Arizona Coyotes.
The Winnipeg Jets have been one of the league's biggest surprises this season as they have done considerably well in the competitive Central division and heading into Thursday night's encounter they sit in fourth place and are within striking distance of the Blues. Winnipeg has had a laundry list of injuries which makes their success that much more impressive and perhaps their biggest momentum swinger has been their play on the road as they are 11-4-4 away from home – a place where the Jets usually thrive. Winnipeg will go for their 12th victory outside of Winnipeg in Arizona against a Coyotes team that is not having a great season and who is coming off a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of St. Louis on Tuesday. Ondrej Pavelec will get the start as he will go up against Devan Dubnyk.
The Coyotes are in shambles at the moment as they simply don't have the roster to compete with the big dogs of the Western Conference and with the show case Max Domi just put on at the World Juniors in Toronto perhaps it is time for Arizona to bring up their future stars right now. Arizona is likely to finish the season at or near the bottom of the league standings though they are seven points clear of the Edmonton Oilers for last place in the Pacific but in all likelihood they will fall well short of the playoffs and will land a pretty decent draft pick as a result that could assist in the team's turnaround on the ice. The Jets are coming off a loss to San Jose but I think they get back to it here on the road where they have been so good and I expect two points to go Winnipeg's way here.
