The Line: Columbus Blue Jackets +136 / Boston Bruins -150 --- Over/Under: 5
The Boston Bruins and Columbus Blue Jackets play Friday night at the Nationwide Arena.
The Boston Bruins have split their last four games and have turned to their defense that’s allowed just one goal in their last two games. The Boston Bruins are allowing 2.5 goals per game on the season and have won seven straight games when allowing three or less goals. Tuukka Rask has allowed 34 goals on 402 shots faced and Niklas Svedberg has given up 16 goals on 168 shots faced. Offensively, Patrice Bergeron is one of four Boston players with five goals, Loui Eriksson has eight assists and Brad Marchand has 43 shots on goal. The Bruins are a banged up team at the moment, as Brad Marchand is expected to miss this game, and Dougie Hamilton and Kevan Miller are both questionable. This will be the Bruins last road game of the month.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have won two of their last three games but are still dead last in their division. The issue for the Blue Jackets is mainly defense, as they’re allowing 3.6 goals per game on the season and seven goals in their last two games. The Columbus Blue Jackets have lost nine of their last 10 games when allowing three or more goals. Sergei Bobrovsky has allowed 27 goals on 305 shots and Curtis McElhinney has given up 26 goals on 230 shots faced. Offensively, Nick Foligno leads Columbus with nine goals, Ryan Johansen has 14 assists and Cam Atkinson has 70 shots on goal. This is the Blue Jackets third straight home game and three of their six wins have come at home.
The Bruins are 5-1 in their last 6 games following a win and 61-30 in their last 91 vs. Eastern Conference. The Blue Jackets are 1-5 in their last 6 games playing on 2 days rest and 2-10 in their last 12 overall. The Bruins are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Columbus and 6-0 in the last 6 meetings overall.
I never love paying for big juice but this line may be worth it. The Blue Jackets are absolutely terrible and have lost six straight to the Bruins. Not sure how Columbus could win this game. This is either Boston or a pass if the juice is a little too steep for your taste.
