The Boston Bruins look to shake off a tough overtime loss on the road against the Penguins last night as they return home to face the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday.
The Ducks head into Boston on Thursday looking for their seventh win in their last 10 contests and can move to .500 on the road with a win but they know the Bruins will be a tough out at the TD Garden less than 24 hours after a loss to the defending champions. Anaheim got off to a slow start but has since turned it up and are 15-10-4 through their first 29 games and a road win against one of the contenders in the Eastern Conference would be another confidence boost for them heading into the weekend. Anaheim is expected to send John Gibson to the crease here as he will be countered by Tuukka Rask who is having a sensational season in the Boston crease but is playing in a back to back here.
The Bruins look to snap their ugly record against the Pacific division as they are 8-20 in their last 28 contests and it won’t be easy as the Ducks have been able find success against the Atlantic as they are 9-2 in their last 11 and will look to extend it here. Boston has had a nice start to the season but haven’t been able to find a ton of success at home this season which is pretty uncharacteristic of them as they are usually a very good team in their own building and while there is still plenty of time left to turn it around it is a cause for concern.
The Ducks are 4-0 in their last four Thursday games and 5-1 in their last six against the East while the Bruins are 1-4 in their last five against the West and 1-6 in their last seven playing in a back to back. Anaheim is getting great value here and the line may jump depending on who starts for Boston but either way I like this game for the Ducks.
