The Boston Bruins look to shake off a road loss against he Ottawa Senators last night as they return home to take on the Calgary Flames on Friday night.
The Bruins got an early lead against the Sens in Ottawa last night but gave up three unanswered and couldn’t muster anything offensively the rest of the way in a 3-1 loss and now they gave to respond less than 24 hours later against the Calgary Flames at the TD Garden. The B’s have struggled against the Pacific division of late as they are 2-7 in their last nine games against one of the league’s top cluster of teams and if they’re going to snap out of that furtility they have to find their offensive swagger against a Flames side that is susceptible to giving up goals in bunches. Tuukka Rask is expected to get the nod as he will face off against Chad Johnson who has seized the starter’s job in Calgary for the time being.
The Flames have struggled this season and have been one of the bigger disappointments in the league this season as many had them pegged for a playoff spot but at this rate they are going to be battling for a top five draft pick. Calgary has a ton of young talent but are now without Johnny Gaudreau and their offense will suffer as a result and against a Bruins side that is typically strong in their own end, especially playing in a back to back I think the Flames attack will be suspect at best.
The Flames are 1-4 in their last five Friday games and have played to the OVER in three of their last four Friday games while the Bruins are 4-1 in their last five Friday games and are 5-2 in their last seven in the third game of a 3-4 situation. Calgary is a mess right now and while Boston will be tired I think they respond after a loss last night.
