NHL action comes to TD Garden where the Boston Bruins host the Calgary Flames on Wednesday.
The Calgary Flames have played five consecutive games that have been decided by just a single goal and have won four of them. Calgary comes off of a 3-2 victory at the Islanders where New York led 2-0 on goals from Casey Cizikas and Anthony Beauvillier but were shutout the final 37 minutes.
Mark Jankowski got Calgary on the scoreboard with a second period power play goal before Matthew Tkachuk scored two times in the third with the winner coming with just 65 seconds remaining. Mike Smith stopped 23 shots for the Flames with Jaroslav Halak absorbing the loss with 39 saves.
The Boston Bruins have been and remain one of the most consistent teams in the game. Boston has won eight of ten after a 5-3 win at New Jersey where the Devils received goals from Miles Wood, Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri along with 22 saves from Eddie Lack.
Torey Krug topped an explosive Bruins offense with a pair of goals with Tim Schaller, Adam McQuaid and Patrice Bergeron also lighting the lamp. Anton Khudobin recorded 35 saves to pick up the win and keep Boston hot.
Flames are 4-0 in their last 4 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game and Flames are 1-5 in their last 6 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and Flames are 4-1 in their last 5 overall. Bruins are 5-0 in their last 5 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and Bruins are 5-0 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and under is 8-0-1 in Bruins last 9 Tuesday games. Flames are 2-5 in the last 7 meetings in Boston.
Calgary is paying well but the Bruins have been red hot and I’ll back them on home ice…
