The Boston Bruins welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to TD Garden for a Saturday NHL tilt.
The long awaited hot streak that would propel the Chicago Blackhawks in to playoff contention has not come which has the team sitting in 7th in the Central. Chicago has dropped five of seven following a 3-2 defeat to the Carolina Hurricanes where Tomas Jurco and Patrick Sharp scored in the first.
The Hurricanes saw goals from Jacob Slavin, Justin Williams and Sebastian Aho while Elias Lindholm posted two assists with Williams also adding a helper. Scott Darling recorded 24 saves to get the win for the Canes while JF Berube absorbed the loss with three goals allowed on 40 shots.
The Boston Bruins have been a steady winner throughout the season with the team avoiding losing streaks. Boston has been keeping the pressure on first place Tampa Bay with five straight wins after upending Philadelphia 3-2 where Jacub Vorecek and Jori Lehtera scored for the Flyers.
The Bruins received scoring off the sticks of Riley Nash and Brian Gionta in the first period before Brad Marchand tallied the winner with 22 seconds remaining. Zdeno Chara and David Pastrnak added a pair of helpers each for the Bruins to make Tuukka Rask and his 31 saves a winner while Alex Lyon allowed three goals on 27 shots...................
Blackhawks are 1-8 in their last 9 road games and under is 5-1 in Blackhawks last 6 games playing on 1 days rest and under is 10-2 in Blackhawks last 12 vs. Atlantic. Over is 5-1 in Bruins last 6 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and under is 12-3 in Bruins last 15 games playing on 1 days rest and Bruins are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. Western Conference.
There aren’t any trends that provide anything of significance so I’m simply going with surging Boston…
