The Bruins look to build on their impressive drubbing of the Stars in Dallas on Saturday as they head home to welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets to town.
The Blue Jackets’ season of misery continued at home on Saturday as they were shut out against the lowly Buffalo Sabres which basically sums up how things have gone in Columbus this season and things don’t get any easier tonight in Beantown. Columbus has gone from a preseason dark horse to a league doormat and are in the running to land the top overall draft pick in the offseason and perhaps with the trade deadline approaching they will send some pieces out the door to help build towards a full rebuild. Columbus is a paltry 12-17-1 on the road this season and while Boston has been much better on the road than they have at home they are still considerable favourites in this spot. Joonas Korpisalo will get the nod as he will face off against Tuukka Rask.
The Bruins meanwhile are coming off one of their best wins of the season as they went into Dallas and laid a beating down on the Western Conference contenders to the tune of a 7-3 final. With the victory the Bruins pulled even with the Lightning for second place in the Atlantic but with Detroit just a point behind and a handful of others in the Metro competing for a wild card spot their spot in the postseason is not a sure thing by any means. However, with games like this one on their schedule the Bruins can feel a little easier knowing that they get the Jackets at home and while I don’t like the value a ton I do think the B’s get it done without much difficulty.
