Columbus Blue Jackets at Boston Bruins

Boston Bruins -143 / Columbus Blue Jackets +122
The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Boston Bruins meet in NHL action from the TD Garden on Saturday night.
The Columbus Blue Jackets will look to build on back-to-back wins after a 3-0 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in their last outing. Adam McQuaid and David Savard scored 2:46 apart to stake the Blue Jackets an early 2-0 lead and the score would remain that way through the rest of the first, the entire 2nd and more of the 3rd before Josh Anderson secured the win with a short-handed empty-netter late in the final frame. Sergei Bobrovsky ended up with the victory, improving his record to 31-22-1 on the year after stopping all 46 shots faced for his 6th shutout of the season.
The Boston Bruins will be out to snap a 3-game losing streak after a 4-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets in their last outing. Winnipeg jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Charlie McAvoy got the B’s on the board late in the opening frame. Joakim Nordstrom tied the game for Boston at the midway point of the 2nd period, sending us to the 3rd period tied at two apiece. Winnipeg pushed ahead 4-2 and while Charlie Coyle pulled a goal back for the Bruins, it was too little too late as Winnipeg held on for the win. Tuukka Rask took the loss, falling to 24-10-5 on the year after allowing all 4 goals on 24 shots faced in the losing effort.
Columbus is 1-4 in their last 5 games following a win and 2-5 in their last 7 games against the Atlantic division while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 road games. Boston is 13-4 in their last 17 games overall and 49-18 in their last 67 home games while the under is 12-5-1 in their last 18 games against the Eastern Conference. Columbus is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
Boston has been a tough out at home, and it would not surprise me in the slightest to see the Bruins pick up a win here to snap their skid. However, Boston is safely in the playoff picture and is simply fighting for positioning right now while the Blue Jackets are fighting for their postseason lives in the wild card hunt. Columbus has also had a lot of the recent success in this matchup, so while I’m hesitant to go against Boston at home, the plus money holds some value here.
