The Florida Panthers will travel to the TD Garden to play the Boston Bruins Tuesday night. It’s the fourth of five scheduled meetings between these two teams, and the Bruins have won the first three matchups.
The Panthers are surprisingly coming off a 5-3 road victory over the New York Islanders. It’s only their second win since mid-January, as they’re now 2-7 in their last nine games. But while they are losing more games than they’d like, the offense has given them a chance to win lately, scoring at least three goals in three straight games. Goalie Tim Thomas has allowed at least three goals in six of his last eight starts. The Panthers are 12-18-1-2 on the road this season.
The Bruins took care of business on Sunday with 6-3 road victory over the New York Rangers. It’s just their second win in five games as the goaltending has been very shaky as of late. The Bruins have allowed a combined 12 goals in their last three games and have allowed at least three goals in five of their last eight games. On the flipside, the Bruins are 7-1 in their last eight when scoring at least three goals. They’re also 23-7-0-2 on their home ice this season.
I really hate eating big chalk simply because there’s little value in a line like this, but there’s no reason to pick against Boston on their home ice. Especially against a team like the Panthers.
Boston has won six straight games against Florida, which means the Panthers haven’t beaten the Bruins since March of 2012. The home team is also 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams, and the Panthers have lost their last five games in Boston.
Sure, the price isn’t cheap, but you’re looking at pretty much a sure win by backing the Bruins.
