Boston -220 / Carolina +186 / over-under: 5.5
The Boston Bruins welcome the Florida Panthers to town in a Thursday NHL bout.
The Florida Panthers need a change in momentum after a 3-2 OT loss at Pittsburgh on Tuesday saddled the team with five straight defeats. Henrik Borgstrom and Vincent Trocheck tallied for the Panthers while Mike Hoffman posted two helpers. Roberto Luongo was charged with four goals on 37 shots to salvage a point for Florida.
Jake Guentzel and Sydney Crosby scored second period goals for the Penguins with Guentzel netting the overtime winner. Crosby added a pair of assists and Matt Murray picked up the win with a 32 save effort.
The surging Boston Bruins stayed hot with a 4-3 OT decision against visiting Carolina on Tuesday. Sebastian Aho led Carolina with two goals with Justin Williams adding a marker. Nine players recorded points for the Hurricanes and Curtis McElhinney was charged with four goals on 38 shots.
The Bruins received scoring off the sticks of Chris Wagner, Jake DeBrusk and Patrice Bergeron in regulation. David Krejci lit the lamp in overtime and Jaroslav Halak gave up three goals on 37 shots to pick up the win.
Panthers are 3-9 in their last 12 road games and Panthers are 0-5 in their last 5 overall and Panthers are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference.
Bruins are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. Eastern Conference and Bruins are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. Atlantic and Bruins are 20-8 in their last 28 overall.
Panthers are 5-16 in the last 21 meetings in Boston and Panthers are 9-25 in the last 34 meetings and favorite is 28-13 in the last 41 meetings.
We saw Boston blow a late lead against Carolina last time out and escape in OT. Meanwhile Florida has played in six straight games decided by a goal. I have no interest here but I’d go small on the plus odds or do nothing…
