The Los Angeles Kings look to keep their hot start afloat as they head into the TD Garden to battle the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.
The Kings look for their ninth victory in 11 tries to start the season and stay atop the Western Conference standings with a road win against the Boston Bruins on Saturday night just a few days removed from blanking the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre. Los Angeles looks like a dangerous team this season and are back in the discussion as one of the league’s elite after a few down years and a win here tonight would certainly put the rest of the league on notice if they haven’t already. Jonathan Quick is expected to get the nod here as he recorded the shutout in Montreal on Thursday night and he will likely face off against Tuukka Rask in a battle of two of the league’s top goaltender.
The Bruins meanwhile are off to a 4-3-1 start in their first eight games and are hoping a matchup on home ice against one of the league’s best will give them the edge and lead to a victory. Boston has had to deal with some injuries in the early stages of this season but they are approaching full health and once they are there they should be in the mix as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference and certainly in the Atlantic division. The Bruins are a disappointing 0-6 in their last six games following a victory so consistency has been a huge issue and against a very good Kings side that can’t be a good trend to look at if you are a Bruins fan.
The Kings are 7-1 in their last eight against the East and 4-1 in their last five following a win while the Bruins are 3-7 in their last 10 home games and 7-2 in their last nine against the Pacific. Boston needs a big win but the Kings are the deeper team and even on the road they show why they are with a pivotal victory.
