The Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins meet up at Gillette Stadium for the 2016 NHL Winter Classic.
The Montreal Canadiens head into Boston for the Winter Classic looking to shake out of an ugly 2-8 slump and retake their perch atop the Atlantic division standings but face off against heir bitter rivals in the elements in what should be an exciting contest. The Habs have been the class of the division for most of the season but things are finally evening out as they continue to play without Carey Price who has gone from the league MVP to being on the shelf and his presence has certainly been felt over the season. The Habs always seem to find a way to get up for these games with Boston and will be out to exact revenge after the B’s got the best of them at the Bell Centre their last time out and Boston native and acting starter Mike Condon will get the nod between the pipes in this one.
The Bruins meanwhile are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games and while they are coming off a loss they sit in third place in the Atlantic and are just a single point back of the Canadiens for second and two back of the Panthers for first. The B’s will be without professional agitator Brad Marchand who was suspended for his hit against the Sens earlier this week and while the loss of Marchand could make a difference I think the B’s have enough in the tank to push through without him. Montreal has been the team to beat all season but they are in a tailspin right now and remain on autofade in this one as the spectacle of the Winter Classic should end with a black and yellow parade.
