Boston Bruins -148 / New York Islanders +120 -- Over/Under: 6
The New York Islanders and the Boston Bruins meet in NHL action from the TD Garden on Tuesday night.
The New York Islanders will look to build on a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings in their last outing. Casey Cizikas opened the scoring for the Isles, but the lead lasted all of 1:58 before Los Angeles tied the game at 1-1. The score stayed the same through the rest of the 1st, all of the 2nd and most of the 3rd before Los Angeles actually took the lead. Mathew Barzal tied the game just :31 later before Michael Dal Colle gave the Islanders the lead for good with 2:23 to go in the game. Brock Nelson added an empty-netter less than a minute later to secure the win for New York. Robin Lehner got the win to improve to 16-7-4 after stopping 34 of 36 shots faced in the winning effort.
The Boston Bruins come into this game after finally exorcising some demons by taking down the Washington Capitals by a final score of 1-0 in their last outing, snapping a 14-game losing skid against the Capitals in the process. The game was scoreless through the first period and the first half of the 2nd before David Krejci scored the lone goal of the game just after the midway point of the middle frame. Boston would hold on the rest of the way for the shutout victory, with Tuukka Rask stopping all of the 24 shots faced in the winning effort to improve to 15-8-4 this season with his 2nd shutout of the season.
New York is 6-1 in their last 7 road games and 16-5 in their last 21 games overall while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games against the Eastern Conference. Boston is 2-5 in their last 7 games overall and 39-18 in their last 57 home games while the under is 18-7-2 in their last 27 games against a team with a winning record. The road team is 11-4 in the last 15 meetings between these two teams.
Boston at home is always a play worth a look as the Bruins do a lot of their best work on home ice. However, home ice hasn’t mattered a whole lot in this matchup, as the road team has had the bulk of the success when these two meet and quite frankly, we are getting plus money with one of the hottest teams in the league and if that’s not enough to take a shot on the Islanders, I don’t know what is. I’ll take New York and the plus money in this one.
