The Ottawa Senators look to shake out of their early season funk as they take to the road to face off with the Boston Bruins on Wednesday.

The Senators have been one of the league’s biggest disappointments this season as they have gone from the Eastern Conference finals to one of the league’s worst teams in less than a calendar and need a serious overhaul if they’re going to jump back into the playoff picture. Ottawa made an early season trade to acquire Matt Duchene but so far the move hasn’t paid dividends and they need someone internal to step up, and as we saw last season they have enough talent in the room to make a Cup run. Ottawa is a pitiful 1-11 in their last 12 road games and have just seven wins in their last 26 games and take on a Bruins side that is soaring up the Atlantic division standings.

The Bruins meanwhile won four games in a row heading into the Christmas break and are 9-2 in their last 11 against the Eastern Conference and should be in good shape here against a Sens side that has been atrocious this season. Boston comes into tonight’s game with a 5-1 mark in their last six games following a win but they have to be careful here against a Sens side playing desperate hockey and Ottawa has absolutely dominated this series of late with a 10-2 mark in their last 12 meetings. Tuukka Rask gives the Bruins the edge in the crease here as Crang Anderson has had a disappointing start to the season and while Ottawa has played the Bruins well I see the edge lying with Boston here.

The Sens are 7-19 in their last 26 overall and 1-4 in their last five against the Atlantic while the Bruins are 9-2 in their last 11 against the East and 6-2 in their last eight home games. The Sens have dominated this series but Boston is the better team and I think this line is serviceable.
