NHL action pits the Philadelphia against the Boston Bruins on Thursday.
The Philadelphia Flyers are hoping to avoid back to back defeats after dropping a 4-1 decision to visiting Colorado on Monday. Nolan Patrick scored the lone Philadelphia goal in the third with Travis Sanheim and Jakub Vorecek. Brian Elliott took the loss for the Flyers with three goals given up on 32 shots to fall to 2-4.
Mikko Rantanen scored twice for the Avalanche with Matt Nieto and Gabriel Landeskog also finding the scoring column. Landeskog also logged an assist to make a winner of Semyon Varlamov and his 37 saves.
The Boston Bruins offense had logged just five goals in losing three straight before putting everything together in a 4-1 win at Ottawa on Tuesday. Thomas Chabot scored with the man advantage for the Senators and Craig Anderson gave up all four goals on 32 shots.
The Bruins saw David Pastrnak score twice with David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron scoring on the power play. Pastrnak and Bergeon also posted two helpers for Boston while Tuukka Rask picked up the win with 38 stops.
Over is 2-0-2 in Flyers last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and over is 4-0 in Flyers last 4 vs. Atlantic and over is 5-0 in Flyers last 5 Thursday games. Bruins are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference and under is 9-1-2 in Bruins last 12 Thursday games and Bruins are 1-5 in their last 6 games playing on 1 days rest.
Philadelphia has been all over the map in the early going so I’ll side with the steadier Bruins…
