The Pittsburgh Penguins go on the road to face the Boston Bruins in Friday NHL action.
The Pittsburgh Penguins go on the road after a short two game home stand to face the Boston Bruins. Pittsburgh dropped their second straight on Wednesday by a 5-2 count to the Vancouver Canucks where neither end of the ice had a good night. Jake Guentzel was the lone bright spot for the Penguins with a pair of power play goals. Matt Murray absorbed the loss for the Pens with four goals allowed on 36 shots.
The Canucks are proving to be quite the road warriors with wins in eight of eleven away from. Vancouver rookie Brock Boeser paced the offense with his second straight two goal performance while Derrick Pouliot (PP), Loui Eriksson each lit the lamp with Brandon Sutter adding an empty netter. Anders Nilsson starred in the nets for the Canucks with a 43 save effort to get the win.
The Boston Bruins return home to battle the Pittsburgh Penguins Friday after a four game west coast road trip. Boston should have some momentum on their side after defeating the New Jersey Devils 3-2 in a shootout. Charlie McCoy ended a marathon shootout with the winner in round eleven. The Bruins scored both of their regulation goals in the first period with Jake DeBrusk and Patrice Bergeron lighting the lamp.
The Devils scored in the first on Jesper Bratt’s tally but what looked like wild score fest was a battle of goaltenders with New Jersey getting the equalizer with 4:44 remaining in regulation. The Bruins have Anton Khudobin to thank for the two points as he came up with a monster 40 save performance to lift the team to their third win in a row. Corey Schneider was solid in the nets for New Jersey with 27 stops.
