The Bruins look to rebound after an ugly loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Garden on Sunday as they welcome the Penguins to town on Wednesday.
The Pittsburgh Penguins head into Boston on Wednesday night looking to improve their standing in the log jammed Metropolitan division and if they can upend the Bruins they can move to within a single point of the Islanders for third place. The Pens started off slow this season but have come on since and are in a good position to get back into the playoffs and while they are a modest 30-20-8 this season they have some fire power and match up well with a lot of teams in their division including the Capitals. Pittsburgh is expected to send Marc-Andre Fleury to the crease as he will face off against Tuukka Rask in a battle of former Stanley Cup winners.
The Bruins spoiled a great opportunity to move into second place in the Atlantic division as they fell to the Columbus Blue Jackets at home on Sunday and now with the Lightning and Wings getting victories last night they sit in fourth with 22 games remaining. The Bruins are expected to grab a few pieces at the trade deadline but have also been rumored to have some pieces dangling as well with Loui Eriksson’s name coming up a bunch so what they decide to do will go a long way in deciding whether they make the playoffs or not. This should be a great game and while Boston’s play on the road has been remarkable they haven’t found the same groove at home and at this value I think taking Pittsburgh is a very good play.
