The San Jose Sharks look to continue their winning ways on the road in Boston in what could very well be a preview of the Stanley Cup finals.
The Sharks have roared out to a very impressive start to the season and sit atop the NHL standings with 17 points in their first nine games. The Sharks have earned a point in every contest so far and are just a shootout loss away from a perfect record heading into Boston to take on a Bruins team coming off a 5-2 thumping of the Sabres last night. The Sharks are incredibly deep down the middle anchoring their very impressive forward unit and Antii Niemi has been stealing games for the teal and black as he has done since signing with the team a couple years ago.
The Bruins meanwhile have been playing just as while as the Sharks sporting a 6-2 record with three straight wins under their belt, including last night’s win over the lowly Sabres. Milan Lucic had his first multi goal game since 2011 and the B’s looked great from the first puck drop but you have to take it with a grain of salt against a very weak Sabres team. Also, the Bruins lost Loui Eriksson for the 3rd period after sustaining a hit from John Scott and while it is unclear at the moment if Eriksson will miss significant time he could be out of this one which I think hurts the B’s. Boston is playing in a back to back and even if they weren’t I think this game favours the Sharks and until they drop a game or start showing signs of slowing down I’ll lock in with San Jose every time.
