NHL hockey comes to TD Garden when the Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Boston Bruins.

With the regular season ending in a week the term must win describes the Tampa Bay Lightning and their remaining schedule as they trail the Ottawa Senators by three points for the last Wild Card. The Lightning took care of business Sunday behind a late offensive surge to down the visiting Dallas Stars 6-3. Rookie Adam Erne came up big for the Lightning with a pair of goals with Brayden Point, Ondraj Palat, Anton Stralman and Braydon Coburn each lighting the lamp. Palat added a pair of helpers and Peter Budaj recorded 23 saves in the victory to keep Tampa Bay afloat for the postseason. The Stars attack produced goals from Jason Spezza, Gemel Smith and Brett Ritchie while Esa Lindell logged three assists but Kari Lehtonen was charged with five goals on 24 shots.

Timing can be everything in the NHL and the Boston Bruins timing has been perfect lately with the team getting hot with the playoffs approaching fast. The Bruins won number five in a row in a 3-2 victory at the United Center and the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday afternoon. The win has  the Bruins in second place in the Atlantic in control of the second Wild Card and their defense and goaltending deserve a pat on the back after containing a very dangerous Blackhawks offense. Patrice Bergeron, Ryan Spooner and Kevan Miller scored for Boston but Anton Khudobin was the real star with a monster 41 save performance. The Hawks offense saw Jordin Tootoo and Artemi Panarin light the lamp with Corey Crawford absorbing the loss with 26 stops.

The Lightning are 5-0 in their last 5 road games and the Lightning are 1-7 in their last 8 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation while the Lightning are 11-2 in their last 13 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. The Bruins are 4-0 in their last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and the Bruins are 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win while the Bruins are 5-0 in their last 5 overall. The over is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings and the road team is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings while the Lightning are 7-26-3 in the last 36 meetings in Boston.

The over has been productive and the Bruins have been outstanding against Tampa Bay and they are my lean while waiting for goalies…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
