TD Garden and the Boston Bruins brace for a visit from the Toronto Maple Leafs in a Saturday NHL hockey match up.

The Toronto Maple Leafs were looking good before the All Star break but not so much in two defeats following the break. The Maple Leafs took one on the chin Thursday in a 5-1 loss at St. Louis where neither end of the ice had many positives. The normally high powered Toronto attack was held to a lone goal from Mitch Marner with Frederik Andersen struggling in the nets with all five goals allowed on 31 shots. The Blues offense received two goals off the stick of Paul Stastny with Alexander Steen, Vladimir Tarsenko and Colton Parpayko joining the scoring spree to make a winner of Jake Allen and his 26 saves.

The Washington Capitals turned on their offense Wednesday night against the visiting Boston Bruins and the result was a 5-3 victory for the President’s Cup hopefuls. The Capitals had plenty of firepower with Nicklas Backstrom scoring and posting two assists while Alex Ovechkin, TJ Oshie, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Brett Connolly. Braden Holtby recorded 30 saves as he improved to 11-2-0 versus the Bruins. Boston saw Brad Marchand score a pair of power play goals with David Krejci scoring late in the third. Tuukka Rask was charged with all five goals on 22 shots but the Bruins have a pulled groin from their #1 goalie as more of a worry then this performance.

The under is 3-0-1 in Maple Leafs last 4 games playing on 1 days rest and the under is 10-2 in Maple Leafs last 12 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game while the under is 5-1-1 in Maple Leafs last 7 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game. The Bruins are 0-4 in their last 4 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game and the over is 6-0 in Bruins last 6 vs. Eastern Conference while the over is 5-0 in Bruins last 5 overall. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Boston and the under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings while the Maple Leafs are 8-17 in the last 25 meetings in Boston.

The Bruins and the under have been a strong play but the condition of Rask is an unknown…

Toronto +1

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
