The Line: Boston Bruins -130 / Winnipeg Jets +118 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Boston Bruins host the Winnipeg Jets in a Thursday night NHL matchup.
The Winnipeg Jets need a winning streak to maintain their spot in the standings and have taken a few steps in that direction with back to back victories after outscoring the red hot Nashville Predators 6-4 on Tuesday night. The Predators received goals from Calle Jamrok, Kevin Fiala, PK Subban and Yannick Weber with Pekka Rinne allowing five goals on 35 shots.
Nikolaj Ehlers scored two times for Winnipeg with Adam Lowry, Patrik Laine and Brandon Tanev also lighting the lamp. Blake Wheeler secured the win for the Jets with an empty net tally while Tyler Myers added three helpers to make to 30 save effort of Connor Hellebuyck stand up.
The Boston Bruins have been very steady and need to remain that way going forward in a very competitive Atlantic. Boston has had their moments at the offensive end of the ice but the defense has been front and center the past several weeks and was again Tuesday in a 3-0 win at the Buffalo Sabres.
The Bruins received goals from Jake DeBrusk, Tim Schaller and David Backes each scoring. Anton Khudobin came through to post 36 save for his 6th career shutout and first in 2017-18. The Sabres received 30 stops from Robin Lehner who allowed just one goal.
Over is 7-1 in Jets last 8 vs. Atlantic and Jets are 1-6 in their last 7 road games and over is 5-1 in Jets last 6 games playing on 1 days rest. Under is 6-0 in Bruins last 6 in the third game of a 3-in-4 days situation and Bruins are 6-1 in their last 7 Thursday games and over is 5-1 in Bruins last 6 when their opponent scores 5 goals or more in their previous game. Under is 7-2-2 in the last 11 meetings and home team is 22-8 in the last 30 meetings and Jets are 7-19-1 in the last 27 meetings in Boston.
Both teams are trying for their third straight win but I'll side with the Bruins who have been getting the job done for a few weeks…
