The Sabres look to rebound with a solid effort on home on Thursday as they welcome the slumping Ducks to town.
The Anaheim Ducks have had a very tough season without any rhyme or reason whatsoever as the preseason favourites to win the Stanley Cup sit in last place in the Western Conference and are third last overall. Anaheim's futility is accented on the road this season as they are 3-8-1 away from home and have looked very pedestrian in doing so and despite having some solid play between the pipes and the potential to have a strong offense they have managed a paltry 56 goals this season which is far and away the worst mark in the league. The Ducks will look to break out against the Sabres here who will be starting Chad Johnson while the Ducks will counter with Frederik Andersen.
The Sabres were expected to have a growing year and while they have exceeded expectations to some degree they will likely still fall short of the postseason and begin another push towards their rebuild in the offseason. Buffalo has a bright future and some of that future is here to stay now as Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart, and Rasmus Ristolainen are logging serious minutes and are producing on the score sheet. As for tonight this game should actually be pretty entertaining and with the way the Ducks have been playing this year you can't trust them as far as you can throw them and I actually like the Sabres to get it done on home ice.
