The Coyotes head into Buffalo on Friday looking to snap their two game losing skid while the home side aims for their sixth victory at the FNC this season.
The Arizona Coyotes have cooled off from their red hot start but still remain in the thick of things in the underwhelming Pacific division and if they can get a victory tonight in this one against the Sabres they will move to within two points of the Kings for top spot. The Coyotes do have a young roster but it has been their youth that has acted as the team's catalyst and if they can continue getting high volume production out of Max Domi and Anthony Duclair than the Coyotes could very well land a playoff spot and go on a run similar to the Calgary Flames a season ago. Mike Smith will likely get the start here as he will go up against Chad Johnson.
The Sabres meanwhile are battling with the Maple Leafs at the bottom of the Atlantic division which is exactly where many expected to find them this year as they still have a considerably young roster with some gaping holes they need to fill. Rasmus Ristolainen has had himself a very strong start to the year as he is emerging as one of the best young defenders in the NHL and to go alongside Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart and a potential lottery pick in this year's draft the future remains bright for Buffalo who haven't been relevant in quite some time. The Sabres are slight favourites here at home but to me it is a bit of a cast thrown at the Coyotes who are the better team and should have enough to get the victory.
