There are a lot of bad teams in the National Hockey League right now but the Buffalo Sabre just might be the worst. Considering how bad some other teams have played around the league that's certainly saying something. At 1-8-1 this club has proven thus far that they can't score consistently, can't defend in Ryan Miller, and their two best players are just waiting for their tickets out of town. All of this just leaves the Sabres in a mess that it doesn't look like they'll get out of anytime soon. Saturday's loss to the Colordao Avalanche saw them fall behind 3-0 less than a minute into the second period and there just weren't many signs of life from this group. With just one win in their first nine games heading into the contest the Sabres were outshot 14-3 on home ice in the first period. It's unacceptable on so many levels but this is what you can expect from Buffalo so far. In order for Wednesday night's match up with the Boston Bruins to get them going there would have to be some sense of pride in the Buffalo locker room, but no one on this club has shown that they have any yet. John Scott might be out there taking aimless runs at Bruins players, but that hardly means this Sabres club has any heart. Until they show the ability to play for a common cause this team is fade material night after night.
