|Date & Time||Thursday December 22, 2016, 7:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Buffalo Sabres -115 / Carolina Hurricanes +105 --- Over/Under: 3
The Carolina Hurricanes head to KeyBank Center to face the Buffalo Sabres in NL hockey.
The Carolina Hurricanes saw their game with the Detroit Red Wings cancelled Tuesday because there was a problem with the ice. That means the Canes contest with Buffalo is home-and-home with the Canes in Buffalo after Saturday's 2-1, SO victory where they have been extra tough. Lee Stempniak and Sebastian Aho scored in the SO to lead the Hurricanes to victory with Joakim Nordstrom scoring in the first for Carolina’s other goal while Cam Ward picked up the win with 23 stops. The Buffalo offense came from Evander Kane with Anders Nilsson recording the loss with a 23 save performance coming up short.
The Buffalo Sabres haven’t done a ton of winning for quite awhile now although they are not a pushover that is an automatic win. The Sabres have dropped consecutive games following a 4-3, shootout loss at Florida on Tuesday to fall to 12-11-3-5. The Swords attack consisted of goals from Rasmus Ristolainen, Sam Reinhart and Evander Kane but Robin Lehner was charged with three goals on 39 shots to get the loss. The Hurricanes upped their shootout record to 2-4 with Vincent Trocheck and Aleksander Barkov scoring the only two goals in the SO with Barkov also scoring in the first while Keith Yandle and Nick Bjugstad lit the lamp as well. Jaramir Jagr added three assists and Roberto Luongo made 33 saves for the Canes.
The over is 3-0-1 in Hurricanes last 4 games playing on 2 days rest and the Hurricanes are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. a team with a losing record while the under is 4-1-4 in Hurricanes last 9 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
