James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports

The Carolina Hurricanes travel to the Buffalo Sabres in Thursday NHL action.

The Carolina Hurricanes have won three of four after shutting down Pittsburgh 4-0 on Tuesday. The Penguins didn’t get off many shots and Matt Murray gave up three goals on 31 shots.

Carolina received goals from Jordan Martinook, Brett Pesce, Micheal Ferland and Andrei Svechnikov. Ten players recorded points for the Hurricanes who received 23 saves from Curtis McElhinney.

The Buffalo Sabres avoided a three game skid with a 5-4 SO victory against visiting Minnesota on Tuesday. Jared Spurgeon scored twice for Minnesota with Charlie Coyle and Zach Parise also lighting the lamp. Devan Dubnyk gave up four goals on 39 shots for the Wild to fall to 2-17-4.

Buffalo saw scoring from Evan Rodrigues, CJ Smith, Rasmus Dahlin and Sam Reinhart. Reinhart scored the only goal of the shootout for the Sabres who received 41 stops from Linus Ullmark.

Over is 5-0 in Sabres last 5 vs. a team with a losing record and over is 5-0 in Sabres last 5 home games and Sabres are 0-7 in their last 7 games following a win. Hurricanes are 5-2 in their last 7 games as a favorite and Hurricanes are 7-3 in their last 10 vs. Eastern Conference and over is 4-1 in Hurricanes last 5 games following a win. Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and favorite is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings and Hurricanes are 7-0 in the last 7 meetings.

The Hurricanes have been tough in this matchup and I’d back them to avoid juice or try the over…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
