There's been a bit of inconsistency throughout the first two games for the Columbus Blue Jackets. They'll look to remedy that when they meet the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. After a disappointing home loss to the Calgary Flames on opening night the Blue Jackets traveled to Long Island and found themselves behind by two goals after 40 minutes of play. Mark Letest and Nick Foligno scored third period goals and the Blue Jackets rallied for a 3-2 shootout victory over New York. Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside 28 of the 30 shots he faced and he made some big saves in the third period to give his team a chance to tie it. Thursday is a game against a team that the Blue Jackets will need to find a way to beat if they're going to make a run at a playoff berth.
Buffalo is off to a dreadful start but not one that shouldn't have been expected to anyone that was paying attention. This club just doesn't have the horses throughout the lineup to compete with the better teams in this league on a nightly basis. It's most likely going to be a long year for the Sabres and one that ends with a lot of changes in personnel coming. Still, they're going to win some games and Thursday night on home ice might be just what they need to get into the win column.
