The Canadiens look to exact some revenge and steal a game on the road against the Sabres as they head into Buffalo on Friday night.
The Montreal Canadiens finally snapped out of their ugly losing funk but they still have a ways to go if they’re going to get back into the conversation as an Eastern Conference contender. Montreal had been in the midst of a terrible two month stretch but they have won three games in a row and sit in fifth in the Atlantic but are are just six point back of the Bruins for the third seed which is their best bet to grabbing a playoff berth. While Carey Price is still on the shelf there is growing optimisim he can return soon but as a franchise in a tough spot it’ll be interesting to see if they bring him back ahead of schedule in order to salvage a potential playoff push or whether they let him rest and focus on getting back in time for next year. As for now, we will likely see Mike Condon and Ben Scrivens splitting time.
The Sabres meanwhile continue to occupy the Atlantic division basement with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the two seem to jockey who sits in the cellar on a nightly basis and they are in the running for a top draft pick once again this season. Buffalo was expected to make a but of a jump this year but with the injury to Robin Lehner keeping him out most of the season it was a set back they couldn’t recover from and now they will look towards next season with perhaps another top end prospect that in the end could be a blessing in disguise for them this year. Buffalo grabbed a win in Montreal the last time these two met up but I think the Habs have it figured out for now and get one back tonight.
