The New Jersey Devils look to snap out of their ugly road losing ways as they head into Buffalo to take on the Sabres on Tuesday night.
The Devils are in the midst of an ugly losing skid and need to rectify their playing style before it is too late as they started the year as one of the league’s top teams and now are fighting just to stay in contention in the East. The Devils to me were one of the bigger overachievers in the first half and while they dominated the Sabres in Buffalo over the years and have won five in a row in this arena and nine of their last 11 overall they don’t exude a ton of confidence here based on the personnel they have and the way they have been playing. Corey Schneider is expected to get the start as he will face off against Robin Lehner.
The Sabres meanwhile look to get back in the hunt in the Atlantic division but things don’t look great as they are a miserable 17-43 in their last 60 games against the Metro and have not been very good against the Sabres in recent years. The Sabres have been woeful on home ice as they have just four wins in their last 11 tries in front of the Buffalo home crowd and while they take on a Devils side who has been just as bad on the road this game figures to be close as indicated by the line sitting at even money.
The Devils are 1-8 in their last nine road games and winless in their last four while the Sabres are 15-40 in their last 55 overall and have hit the under in 18 of their last 29 at home against the Devils. This one is a tough one to call as the Devils have been dreadful lately but with some time off I think they will be re-energized and get a win on the road.
