Monday NHL action gives us the Buffalo Sabres facing the New York Islanders.

The New York Islanders stayed hot with a 4-0 victory at Toronto on Saturday giving the team wins in six of seven. The Maple Leafs offense stalled and Garret Sparks struggled with all four goals given up on 27 shots.

Mathew Barzal exploded for a second period hat trick while Valteri Fippula scored in the first for New York. The Islanders saw Ryan Pulock supply two helpers and Robin Lehner picked up the win with a 31 save performance.

The Buffalo Sabres squandered a 2-1 lead on the way to a 3-2 OT loss to visiting Boston on Saturday. Marco Scandella and Johan Larsson tallied for Buffalo. Scandella also had an assist and Carter Hutton recorded 39 saves for the Sabres.

Noel Acciari and Jake De Brusk scored in regulation for Boston while Sean Kuraly lit the lamp in overtime. Tuukka Rask secured the two points for the Bruins with a 26 save effort.

Under is 3-0-1 in Islanders last 4 in the third game of a 3-in-4 days situation and Islanders are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Atlantic and under is 5-0-1 in Islanders last 6 road games. Under is 4-0 in Sabres last 4 overall and under is 6-0 in Sabres last 6 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game and Sabres are 1-8 in their last 9 vs. Eastern Conference. Home team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Islanders are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

I think this is a game you take a shot on the Islanders at the price or you walk away…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
