The Ottawa Senators look to shake off a loss on the road in Nashville as they continue their trip in Buffalo against the Sabres on Wednesday.
The Senators dropped a 3-1 decision against the Predators in the Music City last night and they will be out to avenge that loss with a trip to Buffalo to take on the Sabres where they will likely turn to backup goaltender Mike Condon who will match up against former Sens goalie Robin Lehner. The Senators had been playing well up until their loss last night against the Preds but should be in a good position to bounce back here as they have a pretty deep team with a lot of experience and should be ready for these double header situations.
The Sabres meanwhile were dealt a tough blow in the preseason as they lost sophomore forward Jack Eichel to an ankle injury and his timetable for return is still very much uncertain and as such their offense has been in a bit of a rut. Buffalo should be able to stay competitive in this one against their Atlantic division rivals who have been known to give up goals in bunches at times this season, but they also have a stingy defense on nights and can shut a team out completely so the Sabres know they will need to adjust.
The Sens are 9-4 in their last 13 overall and 2-5 in their last seven Wednesday games while the Sabres are 21-45 in their last 66 home games and 9-23 in their last 32 Wednesday games. Ottawa did suffer a tough loss last night but should be able to rebound here as they’re a deeper team and need to get back in the win column.
