The Line: Buffalo Sabres +109 / Philadelphia Flyers -120 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The KeyBank Center and the Buffalo Sabres host the Philadelphia Flyers in a Friday NHL matchup.
The Philadelphia Flyers are trying to stay hot after suffering through a miserable ten game slump. Philadelphia has won six of seven since following a 4-3 victory versus the visiting Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night. The Red Wings received scoring from Mike Green, Martin Frk and Gustav Nyquist while Dylan Larkin added a pair of helpers. Jimmy Howard absorbed the loss with 27 saves.
The balanced Philadelphia attack saw Dale Weise, Wayne Simmonds and Robert Hagg while Sean Couturier tallied the game winner in the third. Claude Giroux logged three helpers to make the 25 save performance of Brian Elliott a winner.
The Buffalo Sabres are struggling for consistency at the offensive end of the ice and it is showing in their record. Buffalo is in need of several long winning streaks or the team will be thrust in to the role of spoiler but that will require the offense to make an immediate turnaround.
The Bruins received goals from Jake DeBrusk, Tim Schaller and David Backes each scoring. Anton Khudobin came through to post 36 save for his 6th career shutout and first in 2017-18. The Sabres received 30 stops from Robin Lehner who allowed just one goal.
Flyers are 0-4 in their last 4 Friday games and under is 4-0-1 in Flyers last 5 games following a win and Flyers are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. a team with a losing record. Sabres are 0-5 in their last 5 games following a home loss of 3 or more goals and under is 7-1 in Sabres last 8 vs. a team with a losing record and Sabres are 1-6 in their last 7 games playing on 2 days rest. Home team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings and Flyers are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and over is 34-16-2 in the last 52 meetings.
The Flyers have done well in this matchup and are still hot so I’m looking their way…
