The Flyers look to stay red hot and improve to 7-1-2 in their last 10 games as they head into Buffalo to take on the league worst Sabres.
The Philadelphia Flyers have dropped back to back games in overtime but earning those two points to go alongside their impressive winning streak has them making a charge for a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference and with 27 games left in their regular season there is still a chance they can get in. Philly was expected to make the playoffs this season so falling short of that goal would certainly be a disappointment and an underachievement but they are only seven points back of the second wild card spot currently held down by the Boston Bruins. Philly hasn't been so hot on the road this season and even though they're playing against the Sabres here who haven't been good anywhere it is still difficult to back a team with this much juice who hasn't proven they can win hockey games outside their home arena. Ray Emery is expected to get the start as he will go up against Michal Neuvirth.
The Sabres made headlines this week by making a blockbuster trade with the Winnipeg Jets and while the immediate winner was clearly the Jets the Sabres could greatly benefit when Evander Kane gets healthy and Zach Bogosian is a great young defender. Buffalo has been dreadful all season and while we expected this to be the case I don't think too many thought it would be this bad and now that they are in a full blown tank mode it is hard to fathom they don't land the top overall draft pick though the Edmonton Oilers are sure making a case as well with their play of late. Buffalo is a heavy underdog on home ice but to be honest I don't trust either of these teams despite Philly playing much better of late and having the way better team. I do think though we see a ton of goals here as both teams do have some great offensive pieces and I expect the over to sit comfortably.
