The Penguins look to make quick work of the Sabres on Saturday night as two teams heading in opposite directions meet up in Buffalo.
The Pittsburgh Penguins found themselves at a cross roads to start this season as they were under new management behind the bench and lost some of their best players to free agency leaving many with a sense of uncertainty around how good this year's Pens team would be. Well, we are 12 games into the season and the Pens have points in 10 of them and have looked like Cup contenders in the process but how can you not look like one of the game's best teams when you have two of the game's best players including the undisputed face of the NHL in Sidney Crosby. The Penguins look every bit as dangerous as they have in year's past and heading into Buffalo for a show down with the lowly Sabres has produced the latest -300 bet line for the Pens and that is as the road team. Marc-Andre Fleury will get the call for the Pens while Jhonas Enroth is expected to start for Buffalo.
The Sabres had been playing much better hockey of late and even went into San Jose and upedned the Sharks leading many to believe that their matchup against the Oilers on Friday night would be a cake walk. However, the home side fell once again this time by a 3-2 final leaving the Sabres with the game's worst mark which coming into the year was something many Sabres players and fans had to have expected. Buffalo does have a bright future ahead as they have some great young prospects and with two potential cornerstones emerging in this year's draft class it could be a great opportunity for the Sabres to nab another franchise player that would help turn this team's fortunes around. Until that time though the Sabres are on auto fade especially against one of the league's best and I think we simply lock in the Pens by two and move on.
