Friday NHL action features the Pittsburgh Penguins paying a visit to the Buffalo Sabres.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are eyeing back to back victories after downing Columbus 5-2 on the road Tuesday. Oliver Bjorkstrand and Cam Atkinson scored second period goals for the Blue Jackets and Sergei Bobrovsky received the loss with four goals allowed on 26 shots.
Jared McCann topped the Pittsburgh offense with a pair of markers while Jake Guentzel, Evgeni Malkin and Sydney Crosby. Crosby also posted an assist and Matt Murray picked up the win with a 21 save performance.
The Buffalo Sabres have been in a bit of a funk with losses in six of seven after 5-2 defeat to visiting Philadelphia on Tuesday. Jack Eichel and Casey Mittelstadt lit the lamp for the Sabres who trailed 3-2 heading to the third. Carter Hutton was charged with four goals on 44 shots to absorb the loss for Buffalo.
The balanced Flyers received scoring from Oskar Lindblom, Jacob Voracek, James van Riemsdyk, Travis Sanheim and Claude Giroux. Giroux also posted an assist and Brian Elliott stopped 34 shots to pick up the win.
