The Penguins face a must win after a loss in New York yesterday as they head into Buffalo to battle with the Sabres.
The Pittsburgh Penguins certainly don't look the part of an Eastern Conference playoff team with their play over the last few weeks and last night was another perfect example as they were at home against the New York Islanders and didn't even come close to recording a victory. Now, the Pens have their season on the line and head into Buffalo to take on a Sabres team that lost last night and secured the league's worst mark but that may actually be a blessing for them as they have absolutely nothing to lose and will likely have a vibrant home crowd in their season finale. The Pens have the more talented side but they have been abysmal of late and shouldn't be favoured against anybody at the moment. A win gets the Pens in and a loss with a Bruins win would send them packing.
The Sabres head into their season finale coming off a loss last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets and have 60 minutes left in a tough season that could bring fruitful results if they land the top overall draft pick in July. Buffalo has some nice prospects on the way and if they can land Connor McDavid it would go a long way in turning their franchise around but the luck of the draw isn't always on the side of the league's worst team and knowing Buffalo's luck they could very well drop out of the top three picks. The Sabres haven't had a lot to be happy about and while they don't have a fierce rivalry with the Pens by any means it would be a huge result if they could gain a win here and I think they're worth a look in front of what should be one of the better crowds of the year. Taking a flier here on the home side.
