The Line: Buffalo Sabres +165 / Tampa Bay Lightning -183 --- Over/Under: 6
The NHL comes to the KeyBank Center where the Buffalo Sabres host the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have been the top team in the game thus far but might be showing some signs of slowing down with losses in three of four. Tampa Bay comes in off of a 5-2 defeat at the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night. The Lightning offensive slide continued with only Cory Conacher and Ondrej Palat scoring while Peter Budaj gave up all five goals on 34 shots.
The explosive Penguins attack featured a pair of goals apiece from Sidney Crosby and Phil Kessel with Bryan Rust rounding out the scoring. Justin Schultz and Kessel posted two assists each and Tristan Jarry made the support stand up with 33 stops for his first NHL win to help Pittsburgh to their third straight win.
It’s early in the season but the Buffalo Sabres might be seeing their season get out of hand if there isn’t a change in direction soon. Buffalo has dropped eight of ten following a 3-0 defeat on the road to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night. The Sabres could not get on the scoreboard and Robin Lehner could not win on his lonesome with 23 saves in defeat.
The Canadiens scored once in every period with Jeff Petry opening the scoring with a power play tally with Alex Galchenyuk lighting the lamp in the second before Paul Byron scored a shorthanded goal in the third. Carey Price returned from injury with a 36 save performance for his 40th career shutout.
Over is 5-0 in Lightning last 5 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 1-0-3 in Lightning last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400 and Lightning are 8-1 in their last 9 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. Sabres are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. Atlantic and under is 4-0 in Sabres last 4 vs. Eastern Conference and under is 5-0 in Sabres last 5 vs. Atlantic. Lightning are 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Buffalo and under is 1-0-3 in the last 4 meetings in Buffalo and under is 12-4-4 in the last 20 meetings.
I suppose this is the spot for Tampa Bay to get back on track but the juice has to be knocked down…
