The Sabres and Maple Leafs meet up for the first time this season as these bitter division rivals look to scrape out a win in Buffalo.
The Toronto Maple Leafs head into Buffalo on Wednesday night looking for their second win of the season and should have plenty of fan fare on their side as the Leafs faithful always travels well to Buffalo and that could perhaps be the difference in a matchup that looks like a coin flip. The Buds are in for a long season and they knew that coming in as it will take a couple of years before the rebuild takes affect but they will always find themselves up for these divisional games and with the recent success the Sabres have had against the Leafs you can bet Toronto will want to reverse course here and get two points. Jonathan Bernier will get the call in the crease as Chad Johnson will get the call for the Sabres.
The Buffalo Sabres started off on the right foot but have since lost back to back games and are just 1-4 through their first five games this season despite some flashes of brilliance already from second overall pick Jack Eichel. The Sabres too are likely in for a long season which in the end could be a blessing in disguise as they will get to add another piece to the puzzle but in the mean time things could be rocky for a Buffalo group looking to get back to the playoffs. The line on this one is about right as it is near a pick em and while Toronto may have the better roster overall it is the Sabres who have been getting the better of this rivalry of late and I think they add to that success with a win at home tonight.
