Buffalo Sabres fans finally got their wish when general manager Darcy Regier and coach Ron Rolston were fired yesterday morning. It won't do anything to save the season for them this year but at least Sabres fans can start looking toward the future and with the addition of Pat Lafontaine as president they might have someone they can believe in. Ted Nolan is a respectable coach and should be able to get the most out of this group of undertalented players. The strangest part about the way this was all handled is that they allowed Regier to trade Thomas Vanek before he was fired which looking back seems like he thought he was going to be the one who was allowed to rebuild this whole thing. Instead he's terminated a few weeks later and it leaves the Sabres without a valuable piece at the deadline that maybe they could have gotten more for. The Sabres stole a 3-2 win from the Los Angeles Kings the other night despite being dominated the entire game. Ryan Miller continues to be their best player and it will be interesting to see what becomes of him moving forward. The Sabres could obviously move him to try and bring in some more talent but then they're left with a hole in goal and it's scary to think of what the Sabres would look like the rest of this season without Miller in net. The Sabres should be able to get up for their rivals the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday who will be without Nazem Kadri for the next three games after he was drilling people all over the ice the other night including Minnesota Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom. Toronto blew a late 1-0 lead in the third period and Jonathan Bernier's splendid effort in goal was spoiled as the Maple Leafs fell by a final of 2-1 in a shootout. Toronto has a much better club this season than the Sabres do but we've seen Miller keep Buffalo in games time and time again. The Sabres had no business being in that hockey game against Los Angeles the other night but they ended up winning it because of Miller's performance. It's a tough chore to do that night after night for your hockey club however and Miller won't be able to do that every night. Until Ted Nolan gets in here and starts changing the club in his image there are going to be some more growing pains for the Buffalo Sabres.

Toronto -136

On July 1, 2008 I typed into Google "How Do I start A Blog" and I started my first website called "Miami Mitch's Place" where i shared my college football Picks and predictions as well as opinion. By the Fall I had heard from many that the title made it sound like the site was about Miami so I changed it to "College Football Place" (, After the 2008 college football season I change focus and launched, it wasn't long after that when I realized I just wanted one place to add all sports, and that's when Sports Chat Place was born.

This site is a big Thank You to all of our readers, visitors, and community where we have been given a platform to talk to the masses about sports and hopefully help put you on some winners. If you need to reach me just shoot an email to [email protected]
