|Date & Time||Saturday November 15, 2014, 7:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Buffalo Sabres +190 / Toronto Maple Leafs -210 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Toronto Maple Leafs visit the First Niagara Center to take the ice with the Buffalo Sabres.
The Buffalo Sabres head in to their bout with the Maple Leafs simply needing a win and then building on it. The Sabres early season struggles continued in a 6-3 defeat at Minnesota on Thursday night. It was actually a good offensive night with Zemgus Girgensons, Torrey Mitchell and Rasmus Ristolainen scoring but it wasn't enough with Jhonas Enroth allowing five goals on 38 shots. Nino Niederreiter paced the Wild attack with his first hat trick with Ryan Carter, Kyle Brodziak and Jared Spurgeon also scoring. Darcy Kuemper allowed goals on the first two shots he faced before Niklas Backstrom came in to get the win with 25 saves.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to continue their winning ways when they visit the First Niagara Center to face the struggling Sabres. Toronto had their shot to head to Buffalo and begin their road swing on a positive note but instead fell to the visiting Penguins by a 2-1 count. The offense stalled and a great performance from the defense and between the pipes was not enough to extend their winning streak to four contests. After a scoreless opening fram Pascal Dupuis gave Pittsburgh the lead. Dupuis dobled the advantage just 15 seconds in to the third period. Cody Franson got the Maple Leafs on the board with an unassisted tally but never got the equalizer. Thomas Greiss got the win with 30 stops while Jonathan recorded 38 saves in defeat,
The Maple Leafs are 5-0 in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference and the over is 4-0 in Maple Leafs last 4 overall. while the Maple Leafs are 0-5 in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400. For Buffalo the over is 3-0-1 in Sabres last 4 overall ehile the under is 4-0-3 in Sabres last 7 vs. Atlantic and is 5-1-2 in Sabres last 8 vs. Eastern Conference. Head to head the home team is 21-5 in the last 26 meetings while the Maple Leafs are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and the over is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings. The obvious ghoice is to take the Maple Leafs and hope the Sabres continue to struggle. I want to see goalies first so check back for updates...
