The Arizona Coyotes look to improve on their woeful road record as they skate into the Saddledome to face off against the Calgary Flames.
The Coyotes have had a terrible season and will likely end up in the running for a top three draft pick in the offseason as they haven’t made the strides many anticipated this season and with the trade deadline just around the corner we could see a few more parts on the way out as they gear up for a full rebuild. Arizona has been dreadful against divisional foes of late as they have dropped 11 of their last 13 against the Pacific division and now taking to the road against another divisional rival in this spot doesn’t bode well for them as the Flames need to get points in these matchups they can win as they are in the hunt for a playoff spot down the stretch. Arizona is 18-39 in their last 57 games and have but 12 road wins in their last 54 tries and they will need a big effort here if they’re going to snap out of that funk against a Calgary side that has won four of their last five.
The Flames meanwhile are in the home stretch and know that every game is important for them if they want to make a push at the playoffs but these games against the league’s doormats are even more crucial as they can ill afford to drop points in winnable games. Calgary has struggled on Monday’s of late as they have lost four of their last five and haven’t been able to find much consistency as they are 2-5 in their last seven games following a win but in a game tonight where they are at home in front of their fans against a Coyotes side that can’t seem to find a way to do anything on the road this looks like a great spot for them.
The Coyotes are 18-39 in their last 57 overall and 17-40 in their last 57 against the Western Conference while the Flames are 4-1 in their last five overall and 21-10 in their last 31 against a team with a winning percentage below .400. Calgary needs a win here and against the Coyotes I think they get it done with ease in a regulation win.
