The Hurricanes had been struggling at the offensive end but those struggles were gone for a night with Teuvo Teravainen leading the way with a pair of tallies followed by Jordan Staal, Jacob Slavin and Elias Lindholm. The offensive fireworks made life easier for Cam Ward who came up with a monster 48 saves.

The Calgary Flames are looking to add to their strong start when the Carolina Hurricanes come to town. Calgary bounced from a bad loss to Ottawa with a complete 5-2 rout of the Vancouver Canucks on the road.
The Flames duo of Dougie Hamilton and Johnny Gaudreau scored two goals apiece with Travis Harmonic joining the scoring column with Gaudreau also logging a helper. Mike Smith gave the Flames a solid effort in the nets with 27 saves to post the victory.
Brock Boeser and Derek Dorsett supplied the offense for the Canucks while netminder Jacob Markstrom had some problems keeping the puck in front of him with all five goals allowed on 27 shots to absorb the loss.
