The Chicago Blackhawks and Calgary Flames will play for the third and final time this season on a Tuesday matchup in the Scotiabank Saddledome. The winner of the contest will end up winning the season series.

The Blackhawks are still considered one of the best teams in the NHL, but they’ve been rather cold in the month of January, losing eight of 12 games and currently riding a three-game losing streak. Of course, the schedule hasn’t exactly been a cakewalk, but these are the defending champions we’re talking about. There’s really no excuse for losing four of the last six matchups regardless of the competition.

There’s really nothing to say about Calgary, easily one of the worst teams in the league. Although the Flames have won two straight, they haven’t been impressive at all this season with an 18-27-7 record. They’re ranked 29th in goals scored, 28th in goals against and 25th in power play percentage. It’s really hard to trust this team considering they’ve been shutout six times since December 17th.

I think this is a perfect spot to pick Chicago. It’s a team that needs a win to get back on track and should have no problem doing so against a Calgary team that has struggled against just about everybody. Also, since the Blackhawks are in somewhat of a slump, you’re getting a pretty cheap line. Trust me, the line would be well over -200 under any other circumstances.

Chicago has won four of the last five games against Calgary and is 10-2 in its last 12 road games against teams with a winning percentage under 40 percent.

Pick the Blackhawks and don’t look back.
