The Kings look to keep rolling with a victory on the road in Calgary while the home side looks to claim their third straight and jump into a tie for second in the division.
The LA Kings haven't had a ton of success on the road this season as they sport a 4-7-5 mark outside the Staples Center but they have a pivotal show down against their division rivals from Calgary who after a sloppy losing skid can jump back into the fold with a win here. The Kings are considered to be one of the game's best teams again this season despite being without one of their best blue liner in Slava Voynov but they'll need to turn things around on the road if they're going to be a contender come playoff time. The Kings barely crack the top 10 in terms of goal differential which is a place they usually thrive so with Jonathan Quick having a strong campaign it is clear to see that their issue has been on offense so far this year and they need their goal scorers to produce on a more consistent basis if they want a shot at chasing down the Ducks for the division lead.
The Flames meanwhile have been a tale of two teams as they raced out to a scary good start to the year but have stumbled since as they're just now regaining the ground they built on their division rivals after a nine game losing streak stalled their progress. Calgary is one of the league's biggest surprise teams as they have gone from a draft lottery projection to a playoff contender and with a win here they can jump up into the log jam in the Pacific division that has teams in second to fifth locked to within two points. The Flames to me are still a team that is a couple pieces away but they have done a great job at proving us wrong so far and that's why they play the games but against a tough foe like LA despite their lackluster play on the road this season will be a different challenge. Give me the defending champs at a great price.
