The Nashville Predators and the Calgary Flames meet in NHL action from the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday night.
The Nashville Predators come into this game looking to bounce back after a 5-3 loss to Vancouver in their last outing. Nashville fell behind 2-0 after the opening frame before Ryan Hartman cut the deficit in half to make it 2-1, but Vancouver would strike twice more in the 2nd to take a 4-1 lead into the 3rd and Loui Eriksson gave the Canucks a 5-1 lead. Colton Sissons and Matt Irwin would net a pair of consolation goals for the Preds but it was too little too late as Nashville was sent back empty-handed. Pekka Rinne took the loss, falling to 12-5-1 after allowing 4 goals on 25 shots in the losing effort.
The Calgary Flames will look to build on their current 4-game winning streak after a 2-0 shutout win over Minnesota on Thursday night. The game was a scoreless stalemate through the opening frame before Elias Lindholm scored in the opening minute of the 2nd and the 3rd period to make up all of Calgary’s scoring in the winning effort with Johnny Gaudreau and Mark Giordano recording assists on both markers. Mike Smith picked up the win to improve to 10-7-1 on the year after stopping all 31 shots for his 2nd shutout of the season.
Nashville is 0-5 in their last 5 road games and 2-5 in their last 7 games against the Pacific division while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record. Calgary is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 5-1 in their last 6 home games while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games against the Central division. Nashville is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Calgary.
The plus money is tempting considering how much success the Predators have had in Calgary, but the fact is that Calgary is the much hotter team right now and the Predators have struggled on the road, dropping their last 5 games away from home. I think Calgary can add to Nashville’s woes here and the price is reasonable so I’ll lay the juice with the Flames in this spot.
