Calgary -270 / NY Rangers +230 / over-under: 5.5
The New York Rangers visit the Calgary Flames in a Friday NHL matchup.
The New York Rangers slump continued Wednesday in a 4-1 defeat at Vancouver on Wednesday to saddle the team with losses in eight of nine. Pavel Buchnevich broke up the shut out with a third period power play goal for New York. Mika Zibanejad and Tony DeAngelo posted assists for the Rangers and Henrik Lundqvist took the loss with three goals allowed on 27 shots.
Tyler Motte led Vancouver with a pair of second period goals with Brock Boeser netting a PP play goal in the second with Jake Virtanen adding an empty netter.
Ten different players recorded points for the Canucks and Jacob Markstrom picked up the victory with a 21 save performance.
The Calgary Flames have followed a four game skid with back to back victories after downing visiting New Jersey 9-4 on Wednesday. Blake Coleman, Kyle Palmieri, Kenny Agostino and Travis Zajac scored for New Jersey. Coleman also assisted for the Devils and Mackenzie Blackwood was charged with nine goals on 39 shots.
Johnny Gaudreau paced Calgary with a hat trick while Derek Ryan tallied twice. Matthew Tkachuk, Sean Monahan, Sam Bennett and Elias Lindholm also reached the scoring column for the Flames and David Rittich gave up four goals on 26 shots to get the win.
Rangers are 1-8 in their last 9 overall and are 1-7 in their last 8 Friday games and are 17-42 in their last 59 road games.
Calgary are 10-1 in their last 11 vs. Metropolitan and are 11-4 in their last 15 home games and are 9-4 in their last 13 overall.
These teams are heading in opposite directions and I would do something small on the Flames to reduce the juice but I’m not touching this with the massive line…
