The NHL comes to the Scotiabank Saddledome when the Calgary Flames host the Ottawa Senators on Friday.
The Ottawa Senators go on the road to face the Calgary Flames looking for their second win of the young season. Ottawa comes off a 3-, shootout victory at the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday which was their third straight game to go to a SO. Mark Stone tallied the winner in the 5th round that lifted the Sens to 1-0-2. Ottawa received goals from Ryan Dzingel and Cody Ceci in regulation while Craig Anderson stopped 26 shots in the win.
The Vancouver Canucks have yet to get their offense untracked although it’s early although the goaltending has been dependable. The Canucks saw scoring off the sticks of Chris Tanev and Thomas Vanek while Henrik Sedin supplied assists on each. Vancouver did struggle defensively with the Senators getting 42 shots on Jacob Markstrom in the loss.
The Calgary Flames welcome the Ottawa Senators to town for a late Friday matchup. Calgary has bounced back nicely from an opening day defeat to rattle off three consecutive victories following a 4-3, overtime win at the Los Angeles Kings. Sean Monahan scored the game winner for the Flames in the extra session while Matthew Tkachuk tallied twice.
Michael Frolik also lit the lamp for Calgary and Johnny Gaudreau logged a pair of helpers to support the 42 save performance of Mike Smith. Los Angeles saw Dustin Brown score two times with Anze Kopitar also finding the back of the net while both posted an assist. Kings goalie Jonathan Bernier was charged with all four goals on 37 shots.
Under is 2-0-2 in Senators last 4 games following a win and under is 2-0-2 in Senators last 4 Friday games and under is 7-2-1 in Senators last 10 games playing on 2 days rest. Flames are 5-0 in their last 5 Friday games and over is 2-0-2 in Flames last 4 vs. Atlantic and over is 4-0-2 in Flames last 6 vs. Eastern Conference. Over is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings and Senators are 2-8 in the last 10 meetings in Calgary and home team is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings.
The over has been a strong winner when these teams meet so I expect both goalies to be busy in this one…
