Vancouver Canucks (14-11-4) at Calgary Flames (15-12-2)
|Date & Time||Saturday December 9, 2017, 10:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Calgary Flames -164 / Vancouver Canucks +148 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames meet up in Calgary on Saturday night in a battle of two Pacific division rivals.
The Canucks look to continue their surprising start to the season as they head to the road to face off with the Calgary Flames as these two rivals aim to improve their place in the Western Conference standings with a win tonight. The Canucks came into the season perceived as a league doormat and an easy win in a lot of people’s eyes but they have shocked the league and are looking like a group that could very well make a run at a playoff spot if they can stay healthy. However, the Canucks are without Bo Horvat for the time being and against a Calgary team that has a ton of offensive fire power they could be in for a long evening if they can’t contain the Flames who are always a tough out at home.
The Flames have battled inconsistency so far this season and are coming off an overtime road win against the Montreal Canadiens and now that they are back at home they are hoping for a much better stretch of games. Calgary is 7-3 in their last 10 home games but a modest 1-4 in their last five games after a victory and facing off against a Canucks side that has nine victories already on the road this season it might be a tougher victory than the line would indicate.
The Canucks are 2-8 in their last 10 games in Calgary and 10-21 in their last 31 after scoring two or fewer in their previous game while the Flames are 1-5 in their last six playing on one day’s rest and have played to the over in four of their last five against the Pacific. The Canucks can’t seem to find a way to generate success in Calgary and while the Flames have cooled off a bit I think they get a big home ice win on Saturday.
